Why Teslas are a different tint job

Teslas aren’t tinted like a 2015 pickup. The Model 3 and Model Y have a single huge piece of curved rear glass with no frame around it, the side windows are frameless, and the roof is glass from windshield to tailgate. Shrinking film cleanly around that much curved glass takes patience and experience — it’s where cut-rate tint jobs show their seams, literally. We shape every panel to the glass, and our film carries a limited lifetime warranty.

The glass roof: yes, we tint it

Tesla’s glass roof has UV protection from the factory, but UV isn’t what makes the cabin hot — infrared heat is, and plenty of it comes straight through. A ceramic film on the roof cuts that heat load noticeably, which your passengers feel first and your battery feels all summer. It also cuts the head-level glare you get at midday. If you’ve been driving with the sun beating on your head thinking “this is just how Teslas are” — it isn’t.

Which film should you pick?

For Teslas we recommend ceramic or nano-ceramic film, and the choice mostly comes down to budget and how much comfort you want. Because a Tesla carries so much more glass than a normal car, film quality matters more, not less. Two more Tesla-specific reasons ceramic is the right call:

• No signal interference. Ceramic film contains no metal, so it won’t touch your phone, GPS, or the car’s connectivity — which matters more in a Tesla than anything else you’ve owned, since the car itself is online all the time.
• Range in the summer. Less heat soak means the AC works less to cool the cabin down and keep it there. On a Texas summer day that’s real range you’re not spending at a Supercharger.

Windshield film

We offer full-windshield film for Teslas — a clear, light ceramic layer whose job is heat and UV rejection, not darkness. It’s the single biggest piece of glass on the car and the one your AC fights hardest. We’ll walk you through what Texas law allows on windshields before you choose, so you drive out both cooler and legal.

What about Texas tint law?

Same rules as every car: front side windows must let more than 25% of light through, everything behind the driver can go as dark as you like (keep those side mirrors), and reflective films are out. The good news for Tesla owners: ceramic film gives you its heat rejection at any darkness, so a fully legal 35% on the fronts still shuts down the heat.
